Focus to attain 40% entitlement to be implemented in order for Sabah to progress says Anifah Aman.

Kota Kinabalu, 17 December 2022 – PCS President Datuk Seri Panglima Anifah Aman today, urged both the Federal Government and State Government of Sabah to prioritise the implementation of Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution. Under Articles 112C and 112D, Sabah is entitled to a 40% grant of all revenue collected by the Federal Government from Sabah. In its memorandum submission to the Federal Government today, PCS reminded the Government that Articles 112C and Article112D was part of the constitutional guarantees given to Sabah to form the Federation of Malaysia in 1963. Without such guarantee, Sabah would not have agreed. The Federal Government has not paid Sabah the entitlement since 1973, thus denying the State of Sabah much needed funds to develop itself. Further, the Government has failed to hold the agreed review of the grant since 1974 with the State Government in breach of the Constitution. With the assurance of Prime Minister YAB Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the Federal Government will respect and implement the Malaysia Agreement 1963, all issues related to MA63 should be resolved by 2023 for all Malaysians to focus on unity and progress.
