KOTA KINABALU: Longans are a potential to boon for Sabah’s income says Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAFI) Hendrus Anding.

A trip to a farm in Long Berlian, Rhu Tapai in Setiu, Terengganu inspired the man to help Sabahan’s interested in producing longan.

“They will have to learn the proper care and nutrition and yield output per hectare.

“Courses on longan farming could be tabled by the state through the ministry,” he said.

“We want to reduce imported longans from Thailand,” Hendrus who also is also Tandek Assemblyman said calling for its people to take the chance.

“I hope the state ministry looks into the growth of longan plantations which are not many in Sabah despite a high demand,” he added.
