Seventy-five illegal immigrants nabbed in three large raids

TAWAU: The State Immigration Department net 75 foreigners comprising mostly of Filipino’s and Indonesians in Ops Bersepadu on Saturday.

It’s director, Datuk Dr Sade Amin said they focused three locations at about 11.30pm.

“They were the squatter areas of Kg. Sungai Buaya, Kg. Pasir Putih and a Bayan share-house along Jalan Apas.

The large scale operations involved 117 personnel and officers from numerous governmental agencies including the SESB (Sabah Electricity).

“Two-hundred and fifty foreigners were screened. Fifty-seven are Filipino and the rest, Indonesian, void of any identification documents.

It aimed to sweep breeding grounds for illegal immigrants.

“Witholding information related to the where about’s of illegal immigrant settlements may result in greater crimes.

“We cannot comprise this and will also take action based on the law.” he said in a statement.
