Hajiji to be inoculated after launching Sabah COVID19 vaccination programme

KOTA KINABALU (NSTP): Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor will be receiving the COVID19 vaccine after he launches the state-level Covid-19 vaccination programme on March 4.

State COVID19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the first batch of the vaccine is expected to arrive this Thursday.

“I cannot confirm if he (Hajiji) would be the first to get the vaccine or otherwise. However, the head of the government would usually be the first to be inoculated.

“However, we assure that there are enough vaccines for everyone in Sabah,” he said during a virtual press conference today.

Masidi, who is also state Local Government and Housing Minister, said the authorities have identified 109 locations which would be designated as vaccination centres.

The first phase of the vaccination programme will involve frontliners from the government and private sectors, those in essential services as well as enforcement agencies.

The Sabah government, however, said it would consider earlier vaccination for teachers who have illnesses and other health risks.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Hajiji said he welcomes the impending arrival of the COVID19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine supply to Sabah.

He said the vaccines would be essential in preventing the spread of COVID19 and expressed hope that the programme would be successful.

The chief minister also added that he would personally be present at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Thursday to receive the batch of vaccines. SOURCE: NSTP
